About University:
The University of Surrey is a public research university in Guildford, Surrey, England. The university received its royal charter in 1966, along with a number of other institutions following recommendations in the Robbins Report. The institution was previously known as Battersea College of Technology and was located in Battersea Park, London. Its roots however, go back to Battersea Polytechnic Institute, founded in 1891 to provide further and higher education in London, including its poorer inhabitants.

Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible Countries: United Kingdom (UK/Home students)
- Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded to students pursuing BEng or MEng degrees in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical and Electronic Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Chemical and Process Engineering
- Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:
- Demonstrate a household income of less than £35,000.
- Apply to the University of Surrey for an eligible engineering course.
- Meet at least one of the following widening participation criteria:
- Students from Low Participation Neighbourhoods (LPNs) (POLAR4 Quintiles 1 and 2).
- Students from areas of high deprivation (IMD Quintiles 1 and 2).
- Students eligible for Free School Meals within the last six years.
- Care leavers or students in local authority care.
- Families with non-professional household backgrounds (NS-SEC groups 4-8).
- No parental history of Higher Education participation.
- Students classified as having a disability.
- Young carers, mature learners, refugees, asylum seekers, or estranged students.
- Students from underrepresented ethnic backgrounds or Gypsy, Roma, or Irish Traveller communities.
- Students identifying as New Traveller, Boater, Bargee, or Showperson.
- Students with a parent or carer who has served in the armed forces or reserves.

Scholarship Benefits
The scholarship provides:
- £3,000 annually for years 1, 2, and 3 of the degree.
- £1,000 for a Professional Training Year or the Master’s year of an integrated MEng course.
- A total funding value of up to £10,000 per student.
