East Tennessee State University (ETSU) is a public research university in Johnson City, Tennessee. It was historically part of the State University and Community College System of Tennessee under the Tennessee Board of Regents, but since 2016, the university has been transitioning to governance by its own board of trustees. Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the ETSU International Merit Scholarships, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be admitted to ETSU as a degree-seeking student (undergraduate or graduate).
  • Have, or plan to have, an F-1 or J-1 student visa.
  • Have earned a 3.0 GPA or higher in previous coursework Freshman Applicants – 3.0 GPA in High School; Transfer Applicants – 3.0 GPA in previous university coursework; Graduate Applicants – 3.0 GPA in undergraduate coursework.
  • Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency.
  • Be willing to abide by the guidelines governing the conduct of students at the university.

How-to-Apply: Interested applicants for the ETSU International Merit Scholarships 2025 are to first apply for admission into an eligible course at the University.
