The James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation offers $24,000 James Madison Graduate Fellowships to individuals desiring to become outstanding teachers of the American Constitution at the secondary school level. The scholarship can be applied to any US accredited institution based in the United States. All fellowship recipients will also partake in a summer institute on the Constitution, a trademark portion of the fellowship programme. The Fellowship covers US$24,000 towards a Master’s degree in either American history, teaching, or education. Students must be committed to becoming a teacher of American history upon completion of their study.

Scholarship Eligibility Criteria                             

Fellowship applicants compete only against other applicants from the state of their legal residence except for some privately funded fellowships. To be eligible to apply for a fellowship, you must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Be a teacher, or plan to become a teacher, of American history, American government, or civics at the secondary school level (grades 7-12).
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree or plan to receive a bachelor’s degree no later than August 31 of the year in which you are applying.

Scholarship Application Guidelines

As part of the application process, interested students are required to get enrolled in a graduate program at any US accredited institution based in the United States, thereafter can proceed to submit online application for the fellowship. Application is now open.
