Scholarship Eligibility Requirements :

To be eligible for this prestigious scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Demonstrate academic excellence and outstanding research potential
  • Hold, or expect to obtain, a first or upper second-class honours degree in a relevant subject, with preference for candidates with a Master’s degree or equivalent
  • Secure support from a supervisor before applying
  • Fulfill residency requirements as specified for UK nationals and international candidates
  • Eligibility: Open to UK nationals, individuals with settled or pre-settled status, or indefinite leave to remain or enter. International candidates are also eligible for specific projects.

Scholarship Application Guidelines:

  2. Confirmation: After applying through the University of Kent online portal (KentVision), email your Application ID number, full name, and the project title to kentgrc@kent.ac.uk to confirm your interest in the EPSRC studentship.
  3. Existing Applicants/Students: If you have already applied or hold a deferred offer, or if you are a current PhD student at Kent seeking to transfer onto a quantum technology project, inform the project supervisor of your interest. Additionally, email your details to kentgrc@kent.ac.uk along with updated application materials.


These studentships include a doctoral stipend (equivalent to the Research Councils UK National Minimum Doctoral Stipend, £19,237 – 2024/25 rate), tuition fees at the postgraduate rate and additional research support funding for 3.5 years.
