The University of Leeds is a public research university in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It was established in 1874 as the Yorkshire College of Science. In 1884 it merged with the Leeds School of Medicine and was renamed Yorkshire College. Scholarship Eligibility:

  • Applicants must not have already been awarded or be currently studying for a doctoral degree.
  • Awards must be taken up by 1st October 2023.
  • The awards are available for new Postgraduate Researchers undertaking full-time or part-time research study leading to the degree of PhD. Students who are already registered for PhD research study are excluded from applying.
  • Applicants must live within a reasonable distance of the University of Leeds whilst in receipt of this Scholarship.

Scholarship Application Guidelines:

Stage 1: First apply for a research place of study by completing a study application form. You will be expected to meet our eligibility criteria for PhD candidates, including the English language requirements if your first language is not English.

Stage 2: Prior to being awarded a scholarship, applicants must attend two interviews and be assessed by at least four members of academic staff. The first round of interviews comprises at least two of the directors of CASIF. If the applicant is deemed worthy of progressing, the second round of interviews comprises members of the supervisory team.

Exceptional applicants may be awarded an Accounting and Finance Department Scholarship before the application deadline.

Scholarship Benefits :

The award will cover full fees at the University of Leeds standard rate of fees.

A maintenance grant at the standard UKRI rate (£17,668 in Session 2022/23). Full-time (3.5 years). The award will be made for one year in the first instance and renewable for a further period of up to two and a half years, subject to satisfactory academic progress.
