Scholarship Eligibility:

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The award will be awarded to McCourt graduate academic programs (MPP, MS-DSPP, MPM, and MIDP).

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:
  • Both domestic and international students are eligible to apply.
  • All prospective students were admitted to one of the McCourt School’s graduate programs for the academic year (AY) 2023-24.
  • Strong candidates will demonstrate:
  • Knowledge and experience with the US public policy process and government institutions.
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative research and analysis relevant to projects such as compiling literature reviews, retrieving and analyzing data, and assisting with data visualization.
  • Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Technical software skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and preference for familiarity with Stata, R, and/or Python.
  • Interest in learning from and contributing to an intellectually stimulating environment, rich with critical thinking, scholarship, and lively debate, offered by the American Enterprise Institute.

  • How to Apply: Interested applicants should submit a brief application herefor consideration for the 2023-24 Fogel Scholarship.
  • Supporting Documents: Applicants are asked to submit all the following for the scholarship:
  • Upload a resume or CV
  • Describe their area of policy interest and how they intend to use their McCourt School education and internship with the American Enterprise Institute to advance it.
  • Statement of Purpose: write a statement in no more than 500 words on the following questions: what policy challenge drives you? How do you intend to use your McCourt School education and an internship with the American Enterprise Institute to advance that interest?

Benefits

  • Awarded students will obtain annual awards of up to $25,000 for the length of their McCourt academic program.
  • Winners will be matched to semester-long internships in fall 2023 with AEI Research Faculty, receiving a $3,000 stipend to engage on pressing policy questions with select scholars, economists, political scientists, and foreign policy specialists at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI).
